Victoria Cross
The Victoria Cross is the highest award for the most conspicuous gallantry, or a daring or pre-eminent act of valour or self-sacrifice, or extreme devotion to duty in the face of the enemy. This is only awarded by a Joint Chief of Service Tribunal which has all votes.
Order of Australia Medal
This medal is awarded for outstanding and unwaivering dedication to duty. This is awarded by the vCDF on the 26 Jan of each year and not to more that 10% members.
Defence Force Service Medal
This medal is awarded to permanent forces for service to the vAustralian Defence Force beyond the Minimum Period of Service(MPS). It is first awarded for one years service post MPS with an additional rossett for every year after that. After three rossetts, it is replaced by the Federation Star. This is awarded by the vCDF
Defence Long Service Medal
This medal is awarded to permanent forces for five years service, with an added rossett for every five years after that. This is awarded by the vCDF.
Reserve Forces Medal
This is awarded to reserve forces for three years service. It is awarded by the vCDF.
Reserve Forces Decoration
This is awarded to reserve forces for six years service. It is awarded by the vCDF.
Australian Active Service Medal
This is awarded to both permanent and reserve forces who deploy on warlike operations outside of Australia for more than 20 days. It is recognition of members who have represented Australia virtually in hostility. This is awarded by the vCA.
Australian Service Medal
This is awarded to both permanent and reserve forces who deploy on non-warlike operations outside of Australia. This is awarded by the vCA.
Humanitarian Service Medal
This is awarded to both permanent and reserve forces who deploy Humanitarian Aid operations outside of Australia. This is awarded by the vCA.
Command International Representation Medal
This is awarded to command level officers who are posted on representational duties to an allied country. This is only awarded on return to Australia, and the posting had to have been for more than three months in duration. This is awarded by the vCA.
European Exercise Award
This is awarded to personnel who participate in European exercises, and who were under there command at the time. This is awarded by the vCA.
United States Exercise Award
This is awarded to personnel who participate in a United States exercise, and who were under there command at the time. This is awarded by the vCA.
NATO Service Medal
This is awarded to personnel who deploy on operations of exercises which are not elligable to be awarded one of the two awards above. This is awarded by the vCA.
International Exercise Award
This is awarded to personnel who have participated in a prescribed international exercise. Exercises must be approved by the service chief as being worthy of an award. An additional rossett will be added for each exercise up to a maximum of four. This is awarded by the vCA.
Australian Exercise Award
This is awarded to personnel who have participated in a prescribed national exercise. An additional rossett is awarded for each exercise up to a maximum of four. This is awarded by formation level commanders.
Australian Defence Medal
This is awarded to personnel who have completed six months service or their Minimum Period of Service which ever is the lessor. This is awarded by the vCDF.
Officers Executive Course Award
This is awarded to personnel who sucessfully complete a Officers Executive Course. This is a requirement of all formation level commanders. This award is in recognition of all who have completed the courses regardless of wether or not they hold a formation command. This is awarded by the vCA.
Officers Advanced Course Award
This is awarded to personnel who have sucessfully completed the Officers Advanced Course. This is a requirement for all command appointments. This award is in recognition of all who have completed the courses regardless of wether or not they hold a formation command. This is awarded by formation level commanders.
Gold Army Commendation (Chief of Army’s Commendation)
This is awarded to personnel who have resplayed leadership, skills, knowledge and committment. It is only awarded when ones actions has benifited the service. This is awarded by the vCA.
Silver Commendation (Deputy Chief of Army’s Commendation)
This is awarded to personnel who have displayed skills and committment to the service. Personnel must have made a positive contribution to the service. This is awarded by the vDCA.
Bronze Commendation (Commanders Commendation)
This is awarded to personnel who have displayed an outstanding contribution through committment. This is awarded by formation level commanders.
Australian Army Virtual Pilot Wings
These are awarded by the Commandant of the Army Aviation Training Centre on completeion of the Basic Helicopter Course (BHC). Reserve pilots from here will be posted to a unit while permanent pilots will stay on at the school to complete the Tactical Helicopter Course (THC). Permanent Pilots will need to remain compliant with conditions of service or a notice to show cause will be issued. Reserve Pilots will simply loose there wings until such time as the become compliant.
Australian Army Virtual Instructor Wings
These are awarded by the Commandant of the Army Aviation Training Centre on sucessfully becoming a CAT A or B instructor. Innstructors will need to remain compliant with conditions of service or they will revert back to Pilot Wings and will also become a CAT C Mentor. Mentors will then need to be tested in order to regain there Instructor Wings. Members posted out of an Instructors position will retain their wings until such time as the return to an Instructors position, and will need to re-qualify.
